Davido Adeleke, a well-known Afrobeat performer, speaks after losing all three Grammy Award nominations at the 2024 ceremony.

At the 66th annual Grammy Awards, Davido was nominated in three categories: ‘Timeless’ for Best Global Music Album, ‘Feel’ for Best Global Music Performance, and ‘Unavailable’ for Best African Music Performance, making it his best chance of winning his first Grammy.

Despite winning Best African Music Performance, Best Global Music Album, and Best Global Music Performance, the vocalist was not successful in any of the three categories. The winners were the South African Tyla, the Indian Shakti, and the American director Béla Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Zakir Hussain Featuring Rakesh Chaurasia.

Following the loss, Davido congratulated African singer Tyla on the X platform, calling her victory a communal one for Africa.

In the post, he wrote, “Congratulations on your win @Tyllaaaaaaa! Big One for Africa! Keep soaring.”

Davido also shared a screenshot of the post on his Instagram story with his over 20 million followers.

Fans and well-wishers have since flooded Davido’s page, comforting him for his loss, and many have assured him of their continued support regardless of the Grammy Awards.
