Abdul Malik was a Bangladeshi cardiologist and National Professor of Bangladesh who garnered acclaim for being the first cardiac surgeon of united Pakistan.

Brought forth into the world on December 1, 1929, Abdul Malik has given up his breath, leaving behind family and loved ones. He passed away on December 5, 2023.

Malik was in 2004 awarded Independence Day Award, which remains the highest state award by the Government of Bangladesh. His honor comes following contribution in medical science.
Malik who was an indigene of South Surma, Sylhet, Assam Province, British India, became notable for establishing the first cardiac unit in Pakistan at the Military Hospital Rawalpindi in March 1966.

Having had the first open heart surgery in Pakistan performed in March 1970 in his cardiac unit, Malik was awarded nationally and promoted to lieutenant colonel.
