Ada Hegerberg has kidded that she is ‘saving her objectives for England’, subsequent to neglecting to net in Norway’s 4-1 competition opening win over Northern Ireland on Thursday night.

Hegerberg’s side are among the top choices to win Euro 2022 and they easily took care of their rivals at St Mary’s, dashing into a three-objective lead inside 30 minutes.

Julie Nelson pulled one back for Northern Ireland, whose crew was overwhelmingly part-time until January, before Guro Reiten’s free-kick reestablished Norway’s benefit.

The game was Hegerberg’s most memorable in a significant competition since Euro 2017 as she went into a purposeful exile for very nearly five years in dissent of conditions and backing for the crew. Talking after the game, the Lyon forward – who was important for the Norway side that arrive at the Euro 2013 last – conceded that it felt better to get back to the mainland stage.

“Being back is great. There was a great deal of fervor around this game as there forever is with the primary round of competition. It’s consistently unique around the city,” she said.
