Alexandra Swe Wagner is an American journalist and author born on November 27, 1977 in Washington, D.C., United States.

Commonly referred to as Alex Wagner, she serves as co-host of The Circus on Showtime. She is also the author of FutureFace: A Family Mystery, an Epic Quest, and the Secret to Belonging (One World/Random House).

A contributor for CBS News and a contributing editor at The Atlantic, she was formerly an anchor of the daytime program Now with Alex Wagner (2011–2015) on MSNBC.

From November 2016 until March 2018, the journalist became a TV co-anchor on CBS This Morning Saturday and has since April 2016, been a senior editor at The Atlantic magazine.

Tin Swe Thant and Carl Wagner are the famed parents of Alex Wagner.

Her mother Tin was an immigrant from Yangon, Myanmar who became a naturalized U.S. citizen. She attended Swarthmore College.
Her father, Carl Wagner, hails from Lansing, Iowa, and is of Luxembourger and Irish descent. He was said to be a prominent Democratic Party political consultant who co-chaired Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign.
