Martin Pope known at birth as Isidore Poppick was born on August 22, 1918, in New York City, New York, U.S.

He was a famous American physical chemist and professor at New York University.

His groundbreaking discoveries of ohmic contacts and research in the fields of organic insulators and semiconductors has contributed largely to techniques enabling organic semiconductors to carry relatively large currents and to convert electricity into light and vice versa.

These findings have had application in electrophotography, organic light-emitting diodes (OLED), photovoltaic cells, biological sensors, molecular electronics, transistors and batteries.

For his significant work, Dr Pope was awarded, in 2006, the Davy Medal from the Royal Society.

Martin Pope was married to the late Lillie Pope who unfortunately died in 2015.

He walked down the aisle with Lillie in 1946. The information available on both Martin and Lillie is silent on the fact that they had children. For that matter, we cannot say for sure that Pope Martin had kids.
