A professional golfer from South Africa named Ashleigh Ann Buhai (née Simon) was born on May 11, 1989.

Buhai enjoyed a prosperous amateur career. She was the first woman in 101 years to win the Ladies South African Open three times and the youngest player to win both the women’s South African Amateur Stroke Play and Match Play events. While still an amateur, she played three times for her nation in the Women’s World Cup of Golf, which is dominated by professionals. The day after she turned 18, Buhai started her professional career.

Furthermore, her third competition as a professional ended with her victory at the 2007 Catalonia Ladies Masters. She became the Ladies European Tour’s youngest-ever professional winner (South Korea’s Amy Yang won the ANZ Ladies Masters at a lower age as an amateur in 2006.
