The injury suffered by star striker Asisat Oshoala during Barcelona’s 2-1 loss to CFF Madrid in the Spanish Liga F on Sunday, May 21, has alarmed some Barcelona supporters.

The injury occurs just 12 days before the UEFA Women’s Champions League championship match, which will be played on June 3 at the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven, Netherlands, between the Spanish champions and Wolfsburg.

The 28-year-old Super Falcons star was a last-minute addition to Barcelona’s team that thrashed Chelsea 4-0 in the competition’s championship game last year after recovering from an ankle ailment.

The five-time African Women’s Player of the Year was replaced by Alexia Putellas in the 21st minute on Sunday.

“Oshoala left the field due to some discomfort in the hamstring of his left leg. When they arrive in Barcelona they will do more tests to see if there is an injury,” Mundodeportivo, a Spanish Tabloid wrote.

The Spanish club are yet to give any update on the injury of Asisat, who is their top goals scorer.
