Bob Ross was born in Daytona Beach, Florida, to carpenter Jack Ross and waitress Ollie Ross and raised in Orlando, Florida.

As a child, Ross cared for injured creatures such as armadillos, snakes, alligators, and squirrels, one of which was later featured in multiple episodes of his television show.

He has a half-brother named Jim, whom he mentioned in passing on his show. Ross dropped out of high school in the ninth grade.

He lost part of his left index finger when working as a carpenter with his father, yet this did not impede his ability to handle a palette while painting later. Robert Norman Ross (October 29, 1942 – July 4, 1995) was an American painter, art instructor, and television host.

He created and hosted The Joy of Painting, an instructional television program that broadcast from 1983 to 1994 on PBS in the United States, CBC in Canada, and comparable channels in Latin America, Europe, and worldwide. Ross would go on to become well-known due to his posthumous internet presence.

Bob Ross Death

Ross, a cigarette smoker for the majority of his adult life, anticipated dying early and suffered from a number of health issues throughout his life.

He died on July 4, 1995, in Orlando, Florida, at the age of 52, as a result of cancer complications. His ashes are interred at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha, Florida, beneath a plaque reading “Bob Ross; Television Artist.” Ross withheld his diagnosis from the wider public; his cancer was not discovered outside of his immediate family and friends until after his death.

According to the provisions of Bob Ross Inc.’s incorporation, the death of any partner in the company would result in that person’s equity being divided evenly among the partners.

What Was Bob Ross’s Net Worth?

Bob Ross was an American painter, art instructor, and television host. Bob Ross was valued at $1 million at the time of his death in 1995.
