Bolanle Ninalowo, a Nigerian actor, praised the EFCC for catching his impersonator.

Bolanle Ninalowo, a well-known Nigerian actor, was constantly in the news after a man who had been impersonating him since 2021 was arrested and found guilty. Ninalowo reacted to the news on social media and thanked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for apprehending his impersonator.

A Federal High Court in Warri sentenced a young man named Omoghan Destiny Igbinosa to two years in prison with the possibility of a fine of N1 million for impersonating Nollywood star Bolanle Ninalowo.

Being one of the most well-known actors in Nigeria’s film industry, Bolanle Ninalowo’s impersonation attempts are not surprising.

But it’s comforting to see that the EFCC acted quickly to detain and charge the offender.

This decision sends a loud and clear message that impersonation and fraud are not acceptable in Nigeria and that the legal system will act quickly to punish offenders.

In Warri, Delta State, Nigeria, the case was heard by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court. Igbinosa was found guilty of the charges brought against him, according to Justice Nwite’s decision, and received a two-year prison term with the possibility of a N1 million fine.
