Bristol DJ, a Jamaican Disc Jockey, died on March 15, 2022. Superfly rose to prominence as the first Black announcer on BBC Radio Bristol.

Bernard, who moved to the UK from Jamaica when he was eight years old, was well-known for his support of new talent.

Bernard was the first Black presenter on BBC Radio Bristol in 1978, and he taught Math and English to students at The Inkworks in Bristol’s St Pauls district.

He collaborated with singers like Marvin Gaye and Mary J. Blige throughout his exceptional career.

Bristol was a true gem who knew what he was about.

Bernard is survived by four children and seven grandkids. He was praised by Pat Hard, who worked with him at Kute FM, as a people broker, a trailblazing DJ, and a mentor to so many developing and established musicians.
