Since 2011, Carolyn Goodman, an American politician, has held the office of mayor of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is the second woman to serve as mayor of Las Vegas,, and she is married to Oscar Goodman, a former mayor, and lawyer.
Goodman is The Meadows School's founder, current president, and emeritus trustee. She defeated Chris Giunchigliani in a runoff election for mayor of Las Vegas on June 7, 2011, and won with 60% of the vote. Goodman assumed office on July 6, 2011.
In April 2019, she was reelected to a third term with 83.5% of the vote against a number of marginal opponents, including local politician Phil Collins. Goodman had previously been re-elected in 2015 against Stavros Anthony and several minor opponents.
Due to term limits, Goodman is no longer qualified to compete for reelection. Due to a state statute that moved all municipal elections held in odd-numbered years in 2019, her last teen was extended by one year, making her term expire in 2021.
