He was born to Ramon Estevez who was known as Martin Sheen who was an actor and Janet Templeton; an artist. Charlie is the youngest son of his parents among three siblings.

He attended the Santa Monica High School where he played baseball as a star pitcher and a shortstop. The famous Robert Downey Jr. was his mate in school. It was in high school that Charlie decided to pursue acting as a career.
