David Khari Webber Chappelle is a highly celebrated American stand-up comedian and actor known for his satirical comedy sketch series Chappelle’s Show (2003–2006).
After leaving the show, He returned to his stand-up comedy career across the U.S.
By 2006, David Chappelle was named by Esquire as the “comic genius of America” and in 2013, “the best” by a Billboard writer. Rolling Stone also ranked him No. 9 in their “50 Best Stand Up Comics of All Time” in 2017.
David Chappelle was in many films, notable among Robin Hood: Men in Tights in 1993, The Nutty Professor in 1996, Con Air in 1997, and also, You’ve Got Mail in 1998.
Others include Blue Streak (1999), Undercover Brother (2002), Chi-Raq (2015), as well as A Star Is Born (2018).
His maiden lead role was in the 1998 comedy film titled, Half Baked, which he co-wrote with Neal Brennan. He also starred in Buddies (1996) which is an ABC comedy series.
