Hydeia Broadbent is dead at 39 per numerous reports.

At the age of 39, Broadbent passed away in Las Vegas on February 20, 2024.

Broadbent and Magic Johnson both made appearances on a Nickelodeon special.

She founded the Hydeia L. Broadbent Foundation two years after the event and was honored with a Jet magazine Black Achievement Award.

She also made appearances at the Republican National Convention in 1996, The Maury Povich Show, Good Morning America, and Essence.

She made the iconic statement, “I am the future, and I have AIDS,” during the Republican National Convention.

Her family released the book You Get Past The Tears in 2002, and they were on Extreme Home Makeover in 2004.

Following her passing, Magic Johnson made a video clip of their 1992 interview available online as a memorial.

In it, Broadbent, then 7 years old, says, “I want people to know that we’re just normal people,” and the New York Times describes her as “fighting through tears” with her face crumpling. Johnson responds, “We are normal people.”
