For her role as Rebecca Howe on the TV comedy series “Cheers,” Emmy Award-winning actress Kirstie Alley is best remembered.
On January 12, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas, Kirstie Louise Alley was born.

At Kansas State University, Alley studied acting for a while before relocating to California and pursuing a career in interior design. She started a wild phase where she misused drugs and socialized with an unconventional crowd after being seduced by the party scene. Tragically, her mother was killed and her father was critically injured in 1981 when a drunk driver struck their car.

After Cheers ended in 1993, Alley went through some highs and lows in her career. In 1994, she was honored with an Emmy Award for the television film David’s Mother. In 1997, Alley played the lead in the NBC sitcom Veronica’s Closet, which received mixed reviews.
