A toddler American girl named Caylee Marie Anthony lived in Orlando, Florida from August 9, 2005, until June 8, 2008. She was raised by her mother, Casey Marie Anthony , and her maternal grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony.

Cindy reported Caylee missing in a 9-1-1 call on July 15, 2008, claiming she hadn’t seen her for 31 days. Cindy said to the operators that Casey had provided several accounts of Caylee’s whereabouts before finally claiming to have not seen her for weeks.

Later, on June 9, Casey contacted the police and informed a police dispatcher that Caylee had been abducted by a nanny.

In October 2008, Casey was accused with first-degree murder and entered a not guilty plea.

The defense claimed that George had properly disposed of the child’s remains after it had unintentionally drowned in the home pool.

In July 17, 2011, she was released with credit for time served. On January 25, 2013, a Florida appellate court reversed two of the misdemeanor convictions.
