Dule Hill was born Karim Dule’ Hill, the younger of two sons, to Jamaican-born parents. Hills’s mother was a ballet instructor at the Marie Wildey School of Dance in East Orange, New Jersey, while his father was an entrepreneur.
Dule Hill is a tap dancer, actor, and producer. He was raised in Sayreville and started taking ballet and tap lessons at his mother’s school in East Orange, New Jersey when he was three years old.
When the directors of the Broadway show The Tap Dance Kid chose Hill to be Savion Glover’s understudy, he received his first significant break in the performing arts at the age of ten.
Hill continued his dancing career by reuniting with Savion Glover in the Tony Award-winning Broadway blockbuster Bring in da Noise, Bring in da Funk in 1996. Hill was a member of Glover’s original company of hard-hitting hoofers in that production.
