American mixed martial artist Dustin Poirier made his professional debut in 2009. In Lafayette, Louisiana, he was born on January 19, 1989.
Poirier participates in the lightweight class of the “Ultimate Fighting Championship,” the biggest mixed martial arts event in the world, having previously fought in both the featherweight and lightweight divisions.
In the early years of his professional career, he fought primarily in Louisiana, the state of his birth, and other Southern states in local promotions.
As of January 27, 2020, Poirier has effectively established himself as the second-ranked lightweight in the official UFC rankings.
