El Chapo’s wife Emma Coronel Aispuro sentenced to 3 years imprisonment for drug trafficking

El Chapo’s wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro, has got herself a 3 year imprisonment term over drug trafficking convictions.

This is way less than her husband’s prison term — he was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Emma Coronel Aispuro was sent to jail over her role in the running of El Chapo’s drug empire.

During her trial, people expected the former beauty Queen to get at least 10 years behind bars. Contrary to expectations, she was only given 3 years.

This is expected anyway because she has good lawyers pushing for a shorter term because of how cooperative she was during her trial. She even pleaded guilty.

She’ll also have 4 years of supervised release and a forfeiture judgment of $1,499,970 representing proceeds of and property gained by Aispuro as a result of the crimes.
