There has been chatter since the Name, Image, and Likeness rules for college athletes were adopted last summer that University of Louisville women's basketball guard Hailey Van Lith would likely benefit more than most athletes.
And on Monday, Van Lith took a big step in that direction. The sophomore guard for the Cardinals became the first Louisville athlete to have a jersey for sale. Van Lith is represented by Octagon, which is a release that says Van Lith is one of the first women's college basketball players to have her jersey for sale.
Van Lith has three types of t-shirts with her name and number on them for sale, along with a red or white screen print jersey and a red or white tackle twill jersey. The t-shirts sell for $35 apiece, while the screen print jersey is $95 and the tackle twill is $135.
Scholarship Offer
The University of Louisville women's basketball staff is expected to sign three players in the Class of 2020 this week.
But the staff is still in the mix for a fourth. Wenatchee, Wash., Cashmere High School point guard Hailey Van Lith – a consensus top 10 player in the Class of 2020 – will decide next Saturday and has narrowed her list to Baylor and Louisville.
The scholarship offer is being granted by the University of Louisville for Hailey to become both a student and also a team member on their basketball team.
Van Lith's high school posted on its Facebook account tonight that her decision will come at 3 p.m. EST on Saturday. She will announce at the Cashmere High School Community Center.
