Famous American music group The Beach Boys was founded in 1961 in Hawthorne, California. They received a lot of praise for their distinctive style, which was characterized by harmonies, surf rock, and songs honoring California’s youth culture.

Sadly, Dennis Wilson, one of their founding members, drowned in Marina Del Rey in 1983, and Carl Wilson, another member, died of lung disease in 1998.

As of right now, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and Brian Wilson make up the “official” Beach Boys lineup. But on tour, the current lineup consists of just Bruce and Mike.

The Beach Boys’ music has had a lasting influence on the American music business, even after some important members left the group and the lineup was altered.

How Many Beach Boys Are Still Alive Or Dead?

The remaining founding members of the Beach Boys, Brian Wilson, and Al Jardine, along with newer members Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, make up the “official” lineup.

Since they are the ones behind many of the band’s most well-known songs and distinctive sounds, these four people are regarded as the foundation of the group’s history.

Still, not every member plays in the current touring lineup, even though they are a part of the “official” lineup. The only members of the Beach Boys that are now on the road are Mike Love and Bruce Johnston.

Though they don’t take part in every gig, Brian Wilson and Al Jardine do sometimes accompany them for specific performances.
