Chinwetalu Agu, a veteran Nollywood actor, has revealed how he turned down a N10 million project offer from wealthy industrialist Mike Adenuga.
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, a media personality, Agu stated that when the N10 million offer was made, he had not earned N1 million on his own, but he insisted on collecting N20 million.
According to the actor, he was ready to leave Adenuga’s office when the business magnate agreed to give him N20 million for the job.
The contract arrangement was the “most wonderful thing at that time,” he said.
In his own words;
“Chief Mike Adenuga mentioned, what I am offering you in this contract is N10 million. Even though I had never seen N1 million before, he was proposing N10 million, but I declined. I told him that unless it’s N20 million, I won’t consider it.
He persisted, and I held my ground. Then, I decided to stand up and suggested that they provide me with money to return to Enugu. I even asked them to book a flight if available, so I could quietly leave. They seemed to take me more seriously when I stood up. Chief Mike Adenuga told me to sit back down.
He instructed them to bring the documents for signing, which they did, and I signed them. That was the turning point, and the celebration began.
I managed to handle it diplomatically in the office. I didn’t want to reveal that N20 million meant a lot to me. But in that moment, it was the most remarkable outcome.”
