Ilebaye, the winner of BBNaija All Stars, has responded to criticism over her tweet.
This comes after Ilebaye shared her account information on her X profile for donations from admirers.
She had made the public aware of a well-known scam, claiming that certain dishonest people were trying to extort money from her supporters while impersonating as her.
Ilebaye posted her account number on her official handle to avoid this and advised any of her admirers who wanted to give to send their money there instead.
Netizens appear to have misinterpreted her reaction post, implying that she was still attempting to collect N120M from admirers despite having already received N120M.
In response to the misconceptions, Ilebaye stated in a new tweet that her prior message was solely to stop fraudulent acts by some individuals and that she never sought cash.
In her words:
“This tweet was solely to avoid people who WANT to gift falling into the hands of scammers.
We didn’t solicit for funds, we only highlighted the account we have access to.
Too many fake account numbers are circulating and we will not be held accountable for any misappropriation.”
