I’m A Big Flirt Being Stabbed In The Back By Ex-Lovers – Actor Kevin Spacey Tells Court

On July 13, Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey testified in his UK sex-assault case, calling himself just “a big flirt” who is being attacked by ex-lovers.

The 63-year-old Academy Award winner talked of his “romantic” and “somewhat sexual” friendship with the first of his four accusers, describing him as “funny, charming, and flirtatious.”

“I liked him greatly. We had a good time together. We laughed a lot,” he told jurors at Southwark Crown Court of the man accusing him of assaulting him up to 12 times.

“I never thought that (the man) I knew would … 20 years later stab me in the back,” he said, adding he is “crushed” by it.

With the man, Spacey claimed to have taken the initiative, declaring in court: “I’m a flirt, I’m a big flirt.”

He maintained that any touch was voluntary and refuted the man’s claims that he forcefully groped him.

“It didn’t happen in a violent, aggressive, painful way. It was gentle and it was touching and it was, in my mind, romantic,” he told jurors.

“We never had sex together because he made it clear that he didn’t want to go any further,” he said. “And I respected that.”

Other accusations, he insisted, made “no logical sense,” implying that the men who made them regretted engaging in “intimate” behavior with him.

Spacey, 63, has entered a not guilty plea to 12 charges, including one count of compelling a person to engage in penetrative sexual behavior without consent and counts of sexual and indecent assault.

The four accusers claim that Spacey forcefully grabbed them and once engaged in oral sex with one of them while they were unconscious. The dates of all the claimed attacks range from 2001 to 2013.

Spacey has been referred to as a “sexual bully” who “delights in making others feel powerless and uncomfortable” by prosecutor Christine Agnew.

One of the accusers testified that Spacey’s unwanted fondling “wasn’t like a caress … It was like a cobra coming out and getting hold.”

However, the complainants had envisioned consensual encounters “with a sinister spin” or, in some cases, had merely “made up” their claims, the actor’s counsel, Patrick Gibbs, told the jury on Thursday.

In the event that he is found not guilty, Spacey expects to make a comeback in his career.

“There are people right now who are ready to hire me the moment I am cleared of these charges in London,” Spacey told Germany’s Zeit magazine this month.
