Famous Nigerian comedienne, Helen Paul has taken to social media to lament on the hardships Nigerians are subjected to day in and day out. According to her Nigerian business depend largely on generators to operate but are forced to pay electricity tariffs with their profits.

It is an indisputable fact that Nigeria is one of the many African countries facing extreme energy crisis. Due to this, it is normal to see small businesses, companies and other large industries depending solely on generators and plants to generate their own power to carry on with their operations.

However, after spending huge amounts of money on fuel to run their generators, these same industries and businesses end up using their profits generated from the use of their own power supply to pay the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), formerly known as the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) for electricity services they never provided.

“Only in Nigeria where you fuel your generator to run your business and use the profit from the business to pay NEPA bill”, she wrote.
