popularly known as was born on January 27, 1959 at Dayton Ohio. He an American sports broadcaster and a former professional American football player. He is the son of Abraham Lincoln Abe Collinsworth and . Both parents were teachers. Cris’s family together with his younger brother Greg moved from Ohio to Melbourne, Florida in 1963 when Cris was just four years old. He attended Astronaut High School while his father was a principal there.

He was very active in sports and in 1986, he won the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 3A 100 yard dash state Championship and was named a High School All American Quarterback. He was given an athletic scholarship to study in University of Florida by Coach Doug Dickey.

Collinsworth was named a first-team All-Southeastern Conference(SEC) in the years 1998, 1999 and 1980 and was made a senior captain on the 1980 Gator team that posted a big turnaround for the team that year. He ended his college career by being named the MVP of the 1980 Tangerine Bowl and was inducted into the University of Florida Hall of Fame as Gator Great in the year 1991. Collinsworth spent eight years with the Cincinnati Bengals team where he made a huge impact in 1981 and later signed with the Tampa Bay Bandits of the United States Football League in 1985 but the contract became voided because his ankle got injured.

Cris Collinsworth began his broadcasting career in 1989 after retiring from the football league. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1991. He has a wife, Holly Collinsworth, and four children.
