Walter W. Cole is a famous American drag queen, entertainer, and cabaret owner and operator in Portland, Oregon. Born on November 16, 1930, he went by the stage name Darcelle XV. His 57-year career as an artist earned him the title of “Oldest Drag Queen Performer” from Guinness World Records in 2016.
In the Linnton section of Portland, Oregon, Cole was both born and raised. He was referred to as a “four-eyed sissy boy” who was timid. Age 37 marked Cole’s debut in a woman’s clothing. By 1969, he had created the persona of Darcelle and admitted to being gay.
Cole, who had worked at Portland Civic Theater and had a passion for performing, created his alter ego Darcelle and came out as gay.
The French actress and singer Denise Darcel is honoured with the appellation “Darcelle.” Darcelle was decked out in dazzling clothes, jewelry, and fake eyelashes.
