Kirstie Louise Alley born January 12, 1951 was an American actress. Alley’s breakthrough came when she played a role as Rebecca Howe in the NBC sitcom Cheers , for which she received an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe in 1991. From 1997 to 2000, Alley starred as the lead in the sitcom Veronica’s Closet, earning additional Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.

Alley was born in Wichita, Kansas to Robert Deal Alley her father, who owned a lumber company and Lillian Alley her mother, Alley had two siblings, Colette and Craig. Alley attended Wichita Southeast High School, graduating in 1969 and she attended college at Kansas State University, dropping out after her sophomore year.

Alley died on December 5, 2022, following a short battle with cancer at age of 71. According to a statement released by her children the cancer had only been recently discovered.
