Kirstie Alley died at 71 on Monday, December 4, 2022, from battling with cancer which was “only recently discovered,” according to a statement her children, True and Lillie Parker, uploaded to her Twitter account.

Kirstie Alley has emerged as one of America’s greatest actresses of her generation, proving time and again that she is talented, as well as possessing a comedic timing second to none.

Her work in television has earned her six Golden Globe and eight Emmy Award nominations. She has also won a Golden Globe, two Emmys, and two People’s Choice Awards.

Is Kirstie Alley Still A Scientologist?

Alley was raised as a Methodist from birth but became a member of the Church of Scientology in 1979. Alley admitted she had a cocaine addiction and went through Narconon, a Scientology-affiliated drug treatment program, to end her dependency.

She has been a Scientologist since and by 2007 she had attained the level of OT VII (Operating Thetan Level 7). Kirstie explained Haword Stern’s Radio Show that this level meant;

…that you have gotten rid of all the things that would create a berated behavior in you that you didn’t want. It’s an awareness level, it’s an achievement

Kirstie Alley was an open Scientologist and was very vocal about her spiritual status till her death. In her 2012 memoir The Art of Men, Alley details her relationship with the church in a chapter titled “The Art of Not Dying.” She claims to have stumbled upon Scientology during a dark period of her life in the late 1970s.

I’d done enough cocaine to kill several people…I weighed 112 pounds….We didn’t have the term in 1979, but I was a hot mess.

Since the news of her death, Yashar Ali, a pop culture commentator alleged that Scientology makes specific mention of the terminal illness in its literature.

One of the promises that Scientology explicitly makes to members is if you reach the upper levels of Scientology you won’t get cancer. Kirstie Alley and Kelly Preston, two dedicated Scientologists, have both died of cancer in the past two years

There are several controversies attached dot the Scientology religion as people feel it contradicts it own teachings at most instances.
