Macy was raised by her mother Laura McIntyre and stepfather Otis Jones. Her mother was a math teacher and her stepfather was a steelworker. Macy has a sister and a younger brother called Nate. Her sister is a biology teacher and her younger brother owns a gym in West Philadelphia.

Macy started learning the piano when was only seven years old. She pursued a degree in Scriptwriting at the University of Southern California.

Macy has a distinct singing style that was heavily influenced by Billie Holiday and her distinct raspy voice makes her unique in the music world.
