Patrick Barron Hopkirk MBE, a rally driver from Northern Ireland, was born on April 14, 1933.
He received the MBE honor in the 2016 New Year's Honours list.
Hopkirk was selected to serve as the IAM RoadSmart Mature Drivers Ambassador beginning in January 2016.
He was raised a Catholic and received his education at Clongowes Wood College in County Kildare from 1945 to 1949. From 1949 to 1953, he attended Trinity College in Dublin. His birthplace was Belfast. His dyslexia, however, hampered his academic success.
Along with their three children, Katie, Patrick, and William, they have six grandchildren: Molly, Jessica, Fenella, Amalia, Allegra, and Alexander. In 1967, he married Jennifer. His wife held the positions of Vice Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire from 2006 to 2011, and High Sheriff of the county in 2005.
A range of automobile accessories dubbed Paddy Hopkirk is offered in Hopkirk's honor. He had been involved in the automotive industry ever since his early days in rallying; by the early 1970s, he was importing Toyotas into Northern Ireland.
