James Riley Blake is a former professional tennis player from the United States.
The newest inductees of the USTA New England Tennis Hall of Fame are James Blake and his longtime mentor Brian Barker.
Together with Andrew Friedman, Blake co-wrote the memoirs Breaking Back: How I Lost Everything and Won Back My Life, which covered his 2004 season comeback. On the New York Times Best Seller list, it made its debut at No. 22 on July 3, 2007, after its release.

After losing in five sets against Ivo Karlovic in the first round of the singles competition at the 2013 US Open and losing in three sets in the doubles competition, Blake declared his retirement from competitive tennis.

He gained notoriety for his quickness and strong, flat forehand.
Blake appeared in 24 singles finals during his career, winning 10 of them, and peaked at No. 4 in the world at that time.

For his spectacular return to the tour in 2005, Blake received the Comeback Player of the Year title. Blake received another distinction from the ATP later on in 2008 when he was named the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian of the Year.

He has an elder half-sister named Michelle, three older half-brothers named Jason, Christopher, and Howard, as well as a brother named Thomas who played tennis professionally.

Blake was born to Betty, a British woman, and Thomas Reynolds Blake, an African American father.

Both parents are alive as of 2022 and are still married. His dad is a business and his mom is a homemaker.

They gave birth to him on December 28, 1979.
