Born in Brooklyn in 1936, Sy Becker started his broadcasting journey in radio. He worked in several stations across Chicopee, Asheville, North Carolina, and Dover, Delaware, before establishing himself as the news director and respected reporter at WSPR-AM in Springfield, where he dedicated 14 years of service.

In 1979, he became part of 22News, where he excelled as a versatile reporter, handling various assignments, and gained recognition as a local theatre and film critic. His unique voice and delivery style made him a lasting presence in Western Massachusetts.

Also, in 2016, he received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host in recognition of his work on The Late Late Show.

Beyond his television and film endeavours, Corden has showcased his talent on stage. In 2011, he secured the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his outstanding performance in the Broadway production of One Man, Two Guvnors.

Corden’s father, Malcom Corden, served as a musician in the Central Band of the Royal Air Force and later worked as a salesman specializing in Christian books and Bibles.

His mother, Margaret Corden, pursued a career as a social worker. Corden spent his formative years in Hazlemere, Buckinghamshire.
