James Alton McDivitt was a test pilot, USAF pilot, aeronautical engineer, and NASA astronaut who lived in the United States from June 10, 1929, to October 13, 2022.
In order to accept the post of Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs for Consumers Power Company, McDivitt retired from the USAF and left NASA in June 1972.
As an executive vice president and director, he joined Pullman, Inc. in March 1975. The Pullman Standard Division appointed him president in October 1975.
