American TV personality, writer, actor, and comedian who bears the name James Douglas Muir Leno was born on April 28, 1950. Leno first performed stand-up comedy for several years before hosting NBC’s The Tonight Show from 1992 to 2009. Leno launched The Jay Leno Show in September 2009, a Primetime talk show that aired on weeknights at 10:00 p.m. ET on NBC.
On March 2, 1977, Leno performed a comedic routine for the first time on The Tonight Show. He initially appeared in the 1976 Good Times episode”J.J in Trouble” and the Holmes and Yo-Yo pilot that same year, both of which were minor roles that he played throughout the 1970s.
