James Mountain Inhofe (born November 17, 1934) is an American politician who is the senior United States senator from Oklahoma, a position he has held since 1994.
Jim Inhofe was a Republican who chaired the United States Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW) from 2003 to 2007, and again from 2015 to 2017. Inhofe was the United States Representative for Oklahoma’s First Congressional District from 1987 to 1994, and the mayor of Tulsa from 1978 to 1984.
Inhofe is well-known for his rejection of climate science. He has supported a constitutional amendment to prohibit same-sex marriage and proposed the Inhofe Amendment to make English the national language of the United States.
