Former All-Pro fullback John Brockington, who spent seven seasons with the Green Bay Packers, has passed away at the age of 74.
He was the first running back in nfl history to rush for over 1,000 yards in each of his first three seasons.
The Packers announced his death on Friday, April 8, in San Diego. Brockington played for the Packers from 1971 to 1977 and ranks fourth on the team's career rushing list, with 5,024 yards, behind Ahman Green, Jim Taylor, and Aaron Jones.
Brockington was selected by the Packers with the ninth overall pick in the 1971 draft out of Ohio State.
He rushed for 1,105 yards in his first season with the Packers, breaking the NFL rookie record at the time, earned All-Pro honours and was named the NFL offensive rookie of the year.
Brockington was an advocate for organ donation and founded the John Brockington Foundation
