In response to his enraged remarks regarding referee Paul Tierney in his post-match interview at Anfield on Sunday, April 30, Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp is expected to face charges from the FA.
Following the Reds' thrilling 4-3 victory over Tottenham, Klopp rushed over to celebrate Diogo Jota's injury-time winner in front of fourth official John Brooks.
The Liverpool manager was subsequently sent a yellow card by Tierney after he had expressed his displeasure at the decision to give Tottenham a free-kick that resulted in Richarlison's equalizer just seconds earlier.
The Anfield drama was the most recent episode in a long-running feud between Klopp and the referee, who was accused of having an agenda against Liverpool after the game.
After the game, Klopp commented on Sky Sports, “What he (Tierney) said to me then when he gave me the yellow card. That can't be done. Furthermore, Tierney said something to him that was “unacceptable,” so that's not OK either.
Tierney acted in a “professional manner throughout,” according to Tierney's audio from the game, according to PGMOL, who accuse Klopp of fabricating the official's behaviour.
The organization that oversees referees issued a statement on Sunday stating that it was aware of the remarks made by Jurgen Klopp during his team's match against Tottenham Hotspur.
‘Match officials in the Premier League are recorded in all games via a communications system and having fully reviewed the audio of referee Paul Tierney from today's fixture, we can confirm he acted in a professional manner throughout, including when issuing the caution to the Liverpool manager so, therefore, we strongly refute any suggestion that Tierney's actions were improper.'
