Kirstie Alley was an incredibly well-known and accomplished American actress. Her parents, Robert Deal Alley and Lillian Alley were both from Wichita, Kansas. She made her acting debut in 1982’s Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan as Lieutenant Saavik, a Vulcan Starfleet officer.

She declined to take on the same part in the subsequent two sequels, claiming she was given less money than for Star Trek II. She appeared in other minor films in the years that followed. She got an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe in 1991 for her performance as Rebecca Howe in the NBC comedy Cheers (1987–1993), which served as her breakthrough role.

On December 5, 2022, Alley lost his fight with cancer at the age of 71. Her children said in a statement that the cancer was just found.
