Dickerson attended Hickory High School and then South Caldwell High School. Dickerson played football in high school and as a high school senior, he was named first-team All-State and played in the Under Armour All-America Game.
Entering college, he was rated a four-star recruit and committed to Florida State University over offers from Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Georgia, and Auburn. Dickerson began his collegiate career at Florida State, then later opted to transfer to Alabama as a graduate transfer and earned his undergraduate degree from Florida State, for his final two seasons of NCAA eligibility.
In the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 37th overall pick. Alongside linemates Lane Johnson and Jason Kelce, he was selected to his first Pro Bowl, as the Eagles stood at a 13-1 record on December 21, 2022.
