After two years, of nearly absolute silence, the Songwriters Hall of Fame is set to welcome a set of artists including Mariah Carey into its class of 2022.
Apart from Mariah Carey, the Songwriters Hall of Fame will be honoring Neptunes, Steve Miler, Eurythmics, and Isley Brothers at a pandemic-delayed gala Thursday night at the Marriott Marquis in New York.
Lil Nas X is also said to receive the Hal David Starlight Award — an award for “gifted young songwriters who are making a significant impact in the music industry via their original songs.”
Mariah Carey was recently sued by a songwriter, Andy Stone who claimed to have written a song with the same name as Mariah Carey's all-time Christmas hit, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You' even though the two songs sound differently. Yet, Mr. Stone claimed the singer should have requested his permission before releasing her Christmas song.
