Norman Jeanne Mortenson, popularly known as Marilyn Monroe was an American Actress, model, and singer. She was born on June 1, 1926, in Los Angeles, California.

Her mom suffered from mental illness and financial difficulties, so Marilyn lived at the Los Angeles Orphans Home for a while, then her mother’s friend became her guardian. She was molested by her mother’s friend’s husband.

Marilyn married James Dougherty at age sixteen, in 1942, and they divorced in 1946. She went on to marry retired based ball player, Joe DiMaggio in 1954, but he was abusive and controlling, so she filed for divorce just nine months after marriage. She married Arthur Miller in 1956, and they separated in 1961.

Marilyn Monroe was found dead in her bedroom on August 5, 1962. It was speculated that she was murdered. She died at age 36.

Marilyn started her career as a model. She was signed to the Blue Book Model Agency and made appearances in men’s magazines and advertisements. She modeled and graced the covers of over thirty publications. She signed with an acting agency in 1946, and 20th-century fox head, Darryl Zanuck signed her for a six-month contract.

Marilyn made her film debut in the movie,” Dangerous Years”, followed by Scudda Hoo! Scudda Hay!. She continued to appear in various movies including,” Home Town Story, Don’t Bother To Knock, Clash by Night, Monkey Business, Let’s Make It Legal, As Young As You Feel, and many others.

Marilyn was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards and earned a Golden train award for Best Actress. She also received a BAFTA Award Nomination.
