Miguel Van Damme was a Belgian professional footballer born on September 25, 1993, in Gaunt, Belgium.
Van Damme came from Cercle's youth team prior to playing as a goalkeeper for Cercle Brugge.
He made his professional debut on April 5, 2014, in the Jupiler Pro League and played the full game in a 1–0 home defeat against K.V. Mechelen.
Van Damme was unfortunately diagnosed with leukaemia during a routine check-up before the 2016–17 season, in June 2016.
He relapsed from leukaemia and was told his chances of survival were low in January 2020
Despite this, he received immunotherapy, and signed a one-year contract with Cercle on June 16, 2020 however, he relapsed again on October 18, 2021, leaving him to battle leukaemia for the fifth time in five years.
Van Damme sadly passed away at the age of 28 on March 29, 2022, in Belgium.
