Belgian professional footballer Miguel Van Damme was born on September 25, 1993, in Gaunt, Belgium.
Van Damme initially came from Cercle's youth team before moving on to play as a goalkeeper for Cercle Brugge.
His professional football career debuted on April 5, 2014, in the Jupiler Pro League and he played the full game in a 1–0 home defeat against K.V. Mechelen.
Van Damme was subsequently diagnosed with leukaemia during a routine check-up before the 2016–17 season, in June 2016.
He however relapsed from leukaemia and in January 2020, he was told his chances of survival were low.
Despite this, he received immunotherapy, and went on to sign a one-year contract with Cercle on June 16, 2020 however, he relapsed again on October 18, 2021, leaving him to battle leukaemia for the fifth time in five years.
Van Damme gave up his breath at the age of 28 on March 29, 2022, in Belgium.
