The owner of a bet breeding business based in Florida has been given a 5-year probation sentence and a fine of $90,000 for illegally selling a capuchin monkey to Chris Brown.

Though the federal indictment does not mention the name of Chris Brown, key details from the case matched a report by the Associated Press where wildlife agents took hold of Chris Brown’s pet monkey from his Los Angeles home.

The agents had served a search warrant on the rapper after he shared a picture of the capuchin monkey with his fans on Instagram. However, the charges against him were dropped after he agreed to leave the monkey and pay $35,000 for its care.

Yet the monkey breeder was handed a probation sentence by a federal judge in Tampa on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, and ordered to pay $90,000 into a fund established by the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service.

Reports add that the monkey seller, Jimmy Hammonds will have to spend 8 months of his probation term in home confinement.
