Ghanaian travel blogger Akesse Sanza has lauded Namibians for actively participating in the promotion of the country’s tourism sector.
He made this remark in the latest blog post on the internationally-acclaimed travel and lifestyle blog, Jetsanza.com.
According to Akesse Sanza, a top Ghanaian blogger, who was recently in the south-east African country for a summit, every single Namibian has made it their personal business to promote the country’s tourism sector to foreigners.
Akesse was in Windhoek as a delegate for the Africa Youth In Tourism Innovation Summit And Challenge hosted by Namibia in late July 2022.
He disclosed that he felt Namibians’ sense of patriotism right after he arrived at the Hosea Kutako International Airport, adding that every single citizen he interacted with encouraged him to stay longer and explore the country’s tourist attractions.
“Every single Namibian is in the business of promoting the country’s tourism industry,” Akesse Sanza noted in his blog titled ‘Namibia is every Namibian’s business.’
He continued: “I realized that Namibia is every Namibian’s business. You’ll never end a conversation with a Namibian without them telling you to stay longer, recommending places to visit, or even going ahead to help you plan your visit by connecting you to the right people or organizations.”
Namibia is one of the top tourist destinations in Africa. Tourism accounted for 14.7% of GDP in Namibia in 2019, thanks to the nearly 1.6 million tourist arrivals.
Namibia announced 14 programmes under five strategic interventions as part of the country’s tourism recovery plan from the Covid-19 pandemic at the Africa Youth Tourism Innovation Summit and Challenge.
