The Nigerian movie industry and Nigerians in total are mourning again after veteran filmmaker, Wale Fanu was confirmed dead today.

According to reports, the 72-year-old had been living with sickle cell while managing Cinekraft, one of the biggest production houses in Nigeria. Announcing his demise, his associate, Jide Bisayo stated that the late filmmaker through Cinekraft contributed immensely to the development of the Nigerian movie industry.

“In the beginning while Nollywood was still an embryo, there was CINEKRAFT. Cinekraft in no small way contributed to the birthing of the nascent industry. Behind Cinekraft administration and production management was one indefatigable, never tiring creative soul, my boss, Wale Fanu. Uncle Wales (as I like calling you), rest in the bosom of the Lord…A titan has gone home indeed!”

Back in 2018, Wale Fanu in an interview with The Punch recounted how her mother had never thought he would marry adding that she mostly tried to hide his condition from people.

“It got so bad that my mother thought I was never going to get married. She tried to hide the truth of my condition from people. But to the glory of God, today I am married and have four children”
