Nigeria’s movie industry is undoubtedly one of the most prosperous and successful across the African continent. Over the years, Nigerians have produced movies of all genres. The most common genre of is comedy and humorous movies which featured the likes of the late Sam Loko Efe, the late Dede Oneday, John Okafor (Mr. Ibu) Charles Awurum, Nkem Owoh (Osuofia), Francis Odega and many more. Also, the likes of Gentle Jack, Sam Dede, and Hanks Anuku in blockbuster movies. However, fantasy and romantic movies mostly featured the likes of Rita Dominics, Ramsey Noah, Genevieve Nnaji among others.

RACHEL ONIGA

Rachel is Yoruba woman who is also known by people close to her as “Tabonu”. She has been in the movie industry for more than two decades. She is an indigene of Eku in Delta State – Nigeria but was born in Ebutte-Metta in Lagos.

The dramatic actress starred in “Super Story”; a television series that made her gain more popularity. She played both lead and supporting roles in several Nollywood movies. Some of such movies include Chief Daddy, The Royal Hibiscus Hotel, My Wife and I, Truth and Tiding, and many others.

JIM LAWSON MADUIKE

Jim Lawson is a popular Nollywood actor who stared in over 150 movies including Enemies in Love, Lust for Lust, Tomorrow Must Wait and My Conscience among others.

He mostly plays the role of a father figure, and elder, a chief or king. In most of his movie roles, he plays role of a good man, an honest man who upholds justice and an innocent man.

DAVID MELA

He was a fashion designer, a model, and a fast-rising actor born in Benue. His first appearance on set was in the movie ‘Enemy Call’. He also featured in movies like A man’s Ego, Sweet Berry, and I think I like You.

His death was recorded on the 11th of January 2021 after he complained of body pains. However, it was alleged that the actor was going through a hard time per his post on social media a few months before his demise.

DAN NKOLOAGU

His son announced his death on the 22nd of January 2021. He hails from Ebe in Enugu and was born on 12th October 1937 and died in 2021 at the age of 83 before his 84th birthday due to ill health. Dan was a radio broadcaster and a filmmaker aside from his acting career.

She is a Yoruba woman from Olla in Kwara State but stays in Ibadan, Oyo State. She was born on 10th October 1960 and died on the 5th of January 2021 at the age of 60. Folake spent two years of her life in the classroom as a schoolteacher and later moved to Sunny Radio in Ilorin as a secretary.

SADIQ DADA

Sadiq Dada was a professional broadcaster and a movie actor. His death is believed to have been caused by leukemia and prostate cancer which he was battling with. His death was confirmed to have occurred on the 3rd March 2021 by his wife and son to a famous filmmaker Kunle Afolayan.
