Nigerian Chef, Hilda Baci Breaks Guinness World Record For ‘Longest Cooking Time’

Hilda Baci, a well-known Nigerian chef, broke the record for the “longest cooking time” by an individual on Monday morning.

Hilda, 27, surpassed the former record holder, Indian chef Lata Tandon, who set the previous record in 2019 by continuously cooking for 87 hours and 45 minutes, to become the new “Guinness World Record” holder.

The previous record was broken by the chef from Akwa Ibom on Monday, May 15, at 7:45 a.m.

To beat the current record, she started cooking on May 11 and intends to do so for 96 hours.

The “Cook-a-thon” effort was endorsed by a large number of Nigerians, including politicians and celebrities.

Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, and Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel, phoned her on the phone on Sunday to encourage her to persevere and not give up.

Similarly, the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, paid Hilda a visit at the cooking venue to encourage her.

On Twitter, presidential aspirants Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar congratulated the record-breaking chef.
