Approximately 69 years after his first motorsport triumph, legendary rally driver and flamboyant brand ambassador Paddy Hopkirk passed away at the age of 89. It says a lot about the guy that he was almost as well-known as the Mini, the vehicle that helped him win the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally in style and which has since become legendary.
Hopkirk passed suddenly in Stoke Mandeville Hospital yesterday (Thursday), but he had been diligently working on a number of automotive and charitable projects just days before. Many people he supported and helped are left without him, but they also have something to be proud of in his legacy. His wife Jennifer, children Katie, Patrick, and William, as well as six grandchildren, survive him.
